Earlier, he was president and publisher of Nevada's Reno Gazette Journal, a job he held from 2001. Before that, Hamilton spent seven years as publisher of The Olympian in Olympia, Wash., and five years as president and publisher of The Californian in Salinas. He joined the Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif., in 1985 as marketing director. Also at the Inland Division, Fred Board has been named general manager; previously, he was general manager of the Daily Bulletin in Ontario, a job he'd held since last March. Earlier, he was publisher of the Gazette weeklies in Long Beach and before that spent five years as publisher of Southern California's Redlands Daily Facts. Prior, the Santa Maria, Calif.-native was publisher of a group of weeklies in the Puget Sound area of Washington. ... At the Northwest News Group of suburban Chicago (Northwest Herald, Northwest Journals, Lake County Journals, et al.), Chris Krug has been named general manager and executive editor; previously, he was editor of Crystal Lake, Ill.'s Northwest Herald, a job he's held since 2003. A 12-year veteran of Shaw Newspapers, Krug was recently named the Suburban Newspapers of America Editor of the Year. Replacing Krug will be Dan McCaleb; previously, McCaleb was the managing editor of the Crystal Lake paper, a job he's held since 2004. Earlier, McCaleb was editor of Indiana's Kokomo Tribune and before that was metro editor of The Advertiser of Lafayette, La. Replacing McCaleb will be Jason Schaumburg; previously, Schaumburg was assistant managing editor of the paper. Earlier, Schaumburg was the paper's sports editor and assistant sports editor and before that was a copy editor at the East Valley Tribune in Mesa, Ariz. He started his career on the desk at the Crystal Lake paper. ... At Dow Jones & Co. Inc. in New York City, Greg Giangrande has been named senior vice president and chief human resources officer; previously, he held the same titles at HarperCollins (both are divisions of News Corp.). The 18-year human resources veteran has been a top HR exec at companies including Hearst, Conde Nast Publications, the National Basketball Association and Random House Inc. ... At Impremedia LLC of New York City, Monica Lozano has been named senior vice president of newspapers; she will remain president and publisher of La Opinin of Los Angeles, a job she's held for four years. Lozano has worked at La Opinin -- which her family founded in 1926 -- since 1985 and was the paper's managing editor and later its president and chief operating officer. Earlier, she worked for community papers in San Francisco and Oregon as a reporter and photographer. ... Earlier, King was publisher of four Media General weeklies in Central Virginia and before that was a retail salesman and retail executive at the Daily Progress in Charlottesville, Va.
