Inc., William Kennedy has been named chief operating officer; previously, he was publisher of The Standard-Times of New Bedford, Mass., an Ottaway newspaper, and publisher of Ottaway's SouthCoast Media Group. Kennedy has been publisher in New Bedford since 1993 and earlier was editor (from 1979) and general manager (from 1987) of Ottaway's Times Herald-Record in Middletown, N.Y., Earlier, Kennedy was a reporter and editor at the Philadelphia Bulletin from 1969 to 1976 and managing editor of the Boston Herald American from 1976 to 1979. Kennedy will maintain his office in New Bedford and not relocate to Campbell Hall. Replacing Kennedy will be Mary Wessling Harrington; previously, she was general manager of Hathaway Publishing, Ottaway's five weeklies in the New Bedford area, a job she'd held since 2002. Earlier, Harrington was managing editor of The Standard-Times for four years and before that served as the paper's executive news editor. Between 1989 and 1996, Harrington was editor of the Gloucester Daily Times and before that was a reporter for The Associated Press and Ottaway News Service. Also at SouthCoast, Peter Meyer has been named president; he remains president and publisher of the Cape Cod Times and Cape Cod Media Group. An executive in Cape Cod for 21 years, Meyer was the paper's production director, assistant to the publisher and general manager. Earlier, Meyer was a production executive with Dow Jones in Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and California. ... At American Consolidated Media LLC of Dallas, Jeremy Halbreich has been named non-executive chairman and a director; previously, he had been chairman, president and chief executive officer, jobs he had held since founding the company in 1998. Earlier, Halbreich spent 24 years with the Dallas Morning News, where he rose to president and general manager, roles he held for eight years. Halbreich has started a new firm, American Consolidated Ventures LLC, which is also based in Dallas. ...
